2024 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

The Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque has contracted with the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta for more than 25 years to sell and scan admission tickets. By submitting your registration, you are making a contract with The Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque. There are 15 events over 9 days at the Balloon Fiesta. We discourage volunteers from working back-to-back events.

There are two roles that are needed at each event that are filled by our partner organizations. The first role is a ticket scanner and can be worked by anyone 14 years old and older. The second role is a ticket seller and is usually worked by someone 18 years old and older. In general, high school students should register as scanners. Exceptions to this rule are made on a case-by-case basis and require the organization advisor to vouch for the high school student and The Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque to agree to allow the student to be a seller.

By registering for an event, you are informing The Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque that you are available to work that shift. If you are unable to work a confirmed shift, YOU MUST NOTIFY YOUR ORGANIZATION ADVISOR REGARDLESS OF WHAT TIME IT IS (INCLUDING AT 3:00 AM FOR A MORNING SHIFT). Your organization is responsible for finding a substitute to cover your shift.

ORGANIZATIONS WILL BE PENALIZED IF THEIR VOLUNTEERS DO NOT ATTEND THEIR SHIFTS OR IF THEIR VOLUNTEERS LEAVE WITHOUT THEIR CAPTAIN'S APPROVAL.

Upon arriving please park in the general parking area and proceed to the Kiwanis compound. This is where you will check in and out of your shift. If you do not check in and out, your organization will not receive credit for the time you volunteered. Drinks and snacks will be provided at the compound. After you check in at the compound, you will be told your gate assignment and position. Gate assignments and positions are not set in stone and may be changed as necessary. A gate captain or compound staff will notify you if we need you to change positions or gates. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CHANGE YOUR GATE OR POSITION ON YOUR OWN EVEN IF EVERYONE ELSE FROM YOUR ORGANIZATION IS WORKING AT A DIFFERENT GATE. Upon being dismissed by your gate captain, proceed back to the Kiwanis compound to check out. Once you have been dismissed by your gate captain and check out at the compound, you are free to leave or enjoy the Balloon Fiesta.

Important Volunteer Notes:

  • Safety First! Both YOUR safety and VISITOR safety.
  • Dress for rapid weather changes. No sandals or flip-flops. Wearing multiple layers of clothing is highly suggested.
  • For visitors, their Balloon Fiesta experience begins with YOU. Please treat everyone with courtesy and do your best to give them the correct information. If you do not know the answer, do not guess. Ask your gate captain for help.
  • Accountability: We have invested heavily in systems and equipment to facilitate your work and to keep track of equipment and all revenue.
  • Ticket Prices: $15 per person if paying with cash or $16.50 for payments via credit card
  • Each volunteer is expected to exhibit total honesty. Please report any suspicious incidents or illegal activity to your gate captain so that we may continue to offer this opportunity to support Albuquerque and provide funds for the benefit of YOUR non-profit organization.
